50 Year Class Reunion
September 28th - 29th - 30th, 2006

OK, it was a great three day celebration. I hope you were here to enjoy all the festivities and the opportunity to get together with old friends. On Thursday night classmates greeted each other and renewed old friendships at the Stone's Throw Golf Course. Bill Roan was called upon to first ask for a moment of silence for our 20 deceased classmates and then to give the invocation. A dinner was then served by Niemerg's Steak House of Effingham. After the meal Gary Hannaman conducted a short meeting to take care of some class business. A new committee was selected (Kenny Cummins, Betty King, Marion Jones and Ilene Iglehart)for our next reunion in 2011. If you have any suggestions for our next big bash please contact one of these four people.

On Friday we got a little wet riding in the parade but no one actually melted. After the parade we enjoyed a short tour of the high school. Parts of the school still looks as it did 50 year ago and other parts have changed completely. Someone mentioned that he didn't remember having as many computers back in 1956 as they do today. By 5:30 the weather was a little better and we all enjoyed the tailgate party at the west end of the stadium. By the time the game started at 7:00 the rain had stopped completely and the weather was perfect for a football game (if you like damp and cold). The Eagles performed as expected and thumped Salem 40-10.

On Saturday evening the Alumni Banquet at the Sunrise Center completed the weekend. There were a few at this banquet that were unable to attend the Thursday night affair and it gave us an opportunity to get caught up. A group photo was taken and will be made available to anyone that would like to purchase one.

Our sincere thanks to Bev Worthey and all the other members of the class of 1981 that worked so hard to make this Homecoming the great success that it was. We've made a lot of new memories these past three days and are looking forward to our next reunion in 2011. Below are few pictures that hopefully will help us retain those memories a little longer.
